Study

Some people dream of success. We make it happen.

Supporting e-learning

The institute takes the responsibility of coordinating the e-learning activities, ensuring that every student receives their electronic materials, complete their assignments and access the tutorial support they need.

This Institute possesses a modern computer laboratory with a super- fast internet connection and full-time technical support.  It possesses a conference room equipped with video-conferencing technology to enable students who want to have live streamed tutorials with their tutors to do so.  It also possesses discussion rooms to enable students who want to discuss among themselves to do so.  The facility possesses printers and photocopiers, a fax machine and a standby 3-way generator to ensure that power is available at all times.

The institute will also be responsible for ensuring that assessments and examinations are done with the highest standards possible. It will also serve as the local link for collaborating Universities in respect of all matters requiring local assistance.

Blended Learning

The centre is committed to enabling more innovative and interactive models such as on-line blended learning, where some face-to-face teaching is provided to supplement on-line learning, but where this interactive learning is provided via internet link.

For some programmes that include pre-recorded lecturers, the institute coordinates a time-table to ensure that students where possible gather together to listen to these lectures on a large screen.  For students who might want to interact with their tutors via video-conferencing, the institute will liase with the tutors to organise live sessions for the students in the conference room.

In the future, learning sessions will be scheduled so that as the lecturer is delivering a lecture in a collaborating University, learners in Uganda would also be in attendance and be able to follow using video-conferencing technology.  It will be the responsibility of the institute to ensure that the time-tables coincide.

Recruitment

The institute undertakes a systematic programme of recruitment activities and massive operations to attract students on to programmes being offered on distance learning by collaborating Universities.

This institute is responsible for assisting in the application process of all prospective students, collecting supporting documents and uploading them onto the system for consideration by the University admissions committee.

For those courses that would need attending interviews, this institute arranges the interviews via Skype or other teleconference technologies.  This institute working with the University ensures that the successful students are enrolled, registered and their queries are fully addressed.
